This is such a no-brainer I don’t know why we didn’t do it sooner! Everyone who looks at the sauce says it resembles a vodka sauce and with its great texture, it is the perfect foundation for a vodka sauce recipe. One of the best parts about this recipe is it uses much less cream than traditional recipes. And it is quicker to make too.
Of all the recipes I’ve made at home so far, this is by and away our young one’s favorite. We know you will love it too.
- 3 ounces of vodka
- 1 cup of light cream
- 1 jar of Strong Sauce
- ¼ teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 cup of peas (optional)
- 4 ounces of smoked salmon, chopped up. (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt
Place the vodka in a 2-quart sauce pan over medium heat and reduce by two thirds. Slowly add in the cream and bring to a simmer. Be careful not to let the cream boil over. Simmer the cream for several minutes and then add in the Strong Sauce. Bring to a simmer and if you want it thicker, simmer it for several minutes more, stirring occasionally. Add in the peas and salmon for a traditional variation on the recipe or simply enjoy it as it is over your favorite pasta.
